RoboCop

Robocop

Well this 1988 classic follows right along with the film. This robot police office kills generic thugs and generic enemies. Going through life with no emotion, just programmed to beat ass and uphold the law. Clean your plate’s kids or RoboCop will be on your ass like white on rice. Can cyborgs save a dying city? Absolutely.

Zenac

Zenac

Weird name, cool game. I never really got the plot and after reading on it now, I still don’t. Something about a pandora’s box situation and aliens and eternal wisdom. Either way, you control a spaceship called AFX-6502 and the mission is to kill alien enemies. What was kind of cool about thise game is that you fight Artificial Intelligence. Pretty high tech thinking for 1986.

Operation Wolf

Operation Wolf

There are 5 hostages in a concentration camp. We have all heard the stories so the only thing to do is to do in and rescue those fools. Your ammo is limited throughout the game but there are ample opportunities to get more and cap some more asses. So follow the basic rules of war… don’t shoot hostages and don’t get captured. Beyond that… there are no rules.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Mario Bros. 2 is set in the dream-land known as Subcon. Mario’s task is to free Subcon from Wart, the game’s final boss and number 1 A-Face. You can choose between Mario, Luigi, Princess, and Toad. By the way, who really uses Toad? I don’t think I ever did. Either way, there were great developments with this game and it continued to set a great stage for the Mario Legend.

Knight Rider

Knight Rider NES

Terrorists have raided a US Military site; only a man and his robotic car can chase them across the US to stop their evil plan. A time limit helps put pressure on the player as he attempts to defeat the terrorist forces and allows for nice bathroom breaks in-between stages. KITT, or creepy car as I like to call him, has structural shielding; however the vehicle is considered destroyed if it repeatedly crashes or enemy gunfire depletes the shielding (like normal cars). Not a bad game but a great TV show.

Baseball Stars

Baseball Stars

Some call this the best baseball game made for nes… I agree with their determinations. You can make and name your own team (who didn’t have a player named vagina) create a league, and play a season. Women players were a part of the action and so was the American Dreams… all of the old school badasses that were hard as hell to beat. Get “Mercy Ruled” and you will get laughed out of the game room.

Pinball

Pinball

Who doesn’t love a good pinball game. Sure the graphics were a little rough, but if you made it to the bonus round, you got to control Mario holding a board. That might sound like it isn’t a great prize this day and age, but it would make your evening back in the day. In this scenario, you have to rescue Pauline before she hits the ground. Sounds like life.

Track and Field

Track and Field

Games of men started back in Greece. And now this day in age, it is up to you to continue to fight for your manhood in such events like the 100 meter dash, long jump, javelin throw, arm wrestling, and hammer throw. Actually arm wrestling wasn’t on there but penis measuring was. The faster you press the buttons, the better you do. Lonely teenage boys dominated this game for obvious reasons.

Gumshoe

Gumshoe

Mr. Stevenson is an ex-FBI agent turned detective. He receives a ransom note from Mafia boss, King Dom, who has kidnapped Stevenson’s daughter, Jennifer. Side note… Dom has got some monster acorn between his legs. Either way, Stevenson must collect the five Black Panther diamonds within 24 hours in order to see his daughter again. Red balloons add bullets and you use the zapper gun to maneuver him around. Badass.

Ms. Pac-Man

Ms. Pac-Man

I guess the Mrs. was tired of her man getting all the credit, popularity, and little round pellets. Pretty standard if you ask me. There are some differences between this game and the original, most notably are better graphics (walls filled in) and ghosts are more random (and the orange one is named Sue instead of Clyde… damn women’s lib thing I guess. Either way, play it for hours and it never gets old.
